Air Force JAG Summer Internship

The Air Force Judge Advocate General's Corps Summer Internship application for 1Ls and 2Ls is now available on www.usajobs.gov. The 2L internship is paid at a GS-09 and the 1L internship is paid at a GS-07.
The announcement will be open until Thursday, December 27, 2012.

To apply, students will need to submit the following:
  1. Resume
  2. Completed on-line occupational questionnaire
  3. One-page personal statement introducing self and explaining motivation and objectives in applying
  4. Top five geographic preferences by base or state (listing of bases)
  5. Prefence for start date, Monday, May 21 or Monday, June 4
  6. Answers to KSAs and how they relate to past work experience, education, and training on a separate sheet (or sheets) of paper
  7. Undergraduate and law school transcripts (all readable copies are acceptable)

Resume Seminar

What makes a legal resume different from a business resume? What is the best way to highlight my skills? I don't have a legal background - what do I put on my resume?

These are not uncommon questions, and just a couple of the points that will be covered in this seminar. Learn how to properly craft your application materials to speak to your strengths.

1L Diversity Program Meet & Greet

Attention 1Ls interested in applying to Diversity Programs!

The Annual Diversity Fellowship Meet & Greet with individual firms will be on Tuesday, November 27, 2012 from 5:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. in the Second Floor Gallery. The event format will feature "table talk" and an opportunity to mingle with attorneys and recruiting representatives from firms hosting a 1L summer diversity fellowship. Dress is business professional. RSVP in Symplicity.

The White House Fellows Program, founded in 1964 by President Lyndon Johnson at the
suggestion of his Health, Education and Welfare Secretary John W. Gardner, is America's most
prestigious program for leadership and public service, offering exceptional men and women firsthand experience working at the highest levels of the federal government. White House Fellows
typically spend a year working as full-time, paid special assistants to senior White House Staff,
the Vice President, Cabinet Secretaries and other top-ranking government officials. Fellows also
participate in a once-in-a-lifetime education program consisting of off-the-record, roundtable
discussions with renowned leaders from the private and public sectors, and take trips to study
leaders and policy in action both domestically and internationally. Fellowships are awarded on a
strictly non-partisan basis.

The program has fostered a legacy of leadership, with nearly 600 alumni who are respected
leaders in a variety of fields and professions. Alumni include former Secretary of State Colin
Powell, Secretary of Labor Elaine Chao, General Wesley Clark, Senator Sam Brownback, former
CNN President Tom Johnson, Levi Strauss & Co CEO Robert Haas, former NBC Chairman Jane

About the Fellows Application Process
:
Access to the online applications is available on Thursday, November 1, 2012. Applications
must be postmarked by 5:59 pm on Tuesday, January 15, 2013, for the 2012-13 Class. The
program commences in September of each year. Applicants must be U.S. citizens and employees
of the Federal government are not eligible unless they are career military personnel. There are
no age restrictions; however the program was created to give remarkable young Americans this
experience while they were early to mid-career. Applicants must have completed their
undergraduate studies and be working in their chosen professions at the time of consideration.

Resume Seminar

Come learn the nuts and bolts about drafting a legal resume.  The first half hour of the session will be a presentation on legal resume components and tips. The second half hour will be a workshop in which you will be updating your resume and can get guidance on specific questions you may have about how to best articulate your experience for legal employers.  CPD staff will be available to answer questions and brainstorm for an additional hour after the seminar.  Bring your lunch and current resume for editing!
